"Rutherfurd's two novels, The Princes of Ireland and The Rebels of Ireland, make up the Dublin Saga. He tells the stories of characters from the time before St. Patrick in the 5th Century all the way through the Irish War of Independence in the early 20th Century. Like in his other novels, he follows several families over the course of dozens of generations, mostly around Dublin. While it is historical fiction, it gives the reader special insight into what life would have been like at times throughout Irish history. It also gives the reader an appreciation for the complexity and interconnections of Ireland's ethnic and religious makeup over the centuries. A great book for this Irish Heritage Month."
